PARENT WORKSHOPS 2024
Oak Park OWL is proud to offer workshops for parents and other caregivers.
Your kids learn so much from you! Parents are the primary sexuality educators of your children. Join our Workshops for parents and caregivers to become a more confident sexuality educator for your kids. Small interactive discussions with our experienced facilitators, other caregivers and parents.
Fee is $10--can be waived upon request.
All workshops are on Thursdays in February, on zoom.
Tweens, Teens and Puberty: Let's Talk
Puberty is an incredible, unique, and often difficult time in a young person’s life. In this session, we will discuss the importance of sharing accurate and current information with the youth in your life about body changes and sexuality, while also acknowledging that our children face different circumstances and pressures than in years past.

Social Media: Integrity in a changing world
Sexual imagery is so prevalent in advertising, on television, and on the internet that even young children are exposed to it, despite adult efforts to limit access. In this session, participants will gain confidence to help their children navigate social media, even when they themselves cannot be sure of the way.

Consent: building healthy boundaries
Adults cannot control the sexual opportunities, risks, or coercion their children will encounter. They can be role models for self-care and mutual respect. This session invites parents and caregivers to be positive influences who help the youth in their lives develop appropriate sexual boundaries and respect those of others.
